Play of the Week – Round 6

This weeks Play of the Week goes to Nick Bertelli and Jason McDonald in the Firsts. Nick Bertelli caught a fly ball in Centre Field and made a great throw back to first where Jason made the tag to turn it into a double play!
I would have liked to see that!

Congratulations to Nick and Jason. This must have been a stand out play in what I’ve heard was a below average day for the Firsts, losing 18-2.

The final results of the vote was:

  1. Nick and Jasons 8-2 double play in the 1’s (4 votes)
  2. Mick Fullers infield single in the 2’s that lead to 2 runners scoring (Zach Breen and Matt Donoghue) (2 votes)
  3. A double play in the 4’s where Bailsey held on to the ball long enough to make the second out very close (1 vote)
  4. A runner steals home on a PB in the 3’s and Ned does a flip while making the tag (and got cleated!) (0 votes)
Congratulations to all the nominees, keep up the good work!

The vote was taken on the Facebook group, so if you are interested in being involved, contact James Dann, Sid Paleri or Alan Yang so you can be added to the group.

Player of the Week – Round 6

This weeks Player of the Week goes to Christian De Petro, for contributing both with the bat and in the field in the 4’s victory against Ringwood. He had 3 hits with 2 RBI’s, as well as scoring twice himself, and initiated a double play.

So congratulations to Christian!

The final results for the nominations were:

  1. Christian (5 votes)
  2. Tom Andronas for his batting in the 3’s (0 votes)

The vote was taken on the Facebook group, so if you are interested in being involved, contact James Dann, Sid Paleri or Alan Yang so you can be added to the group.

Player of the Week – Round 5

This rounds Player of the Week goes to Noah Bender Bennet for his pitching effort in the 4’s.

He came on while the 4’s were 7 runs down, and shutdown the oppositions offensive completely, as they didn’t score for the remainder of the game!

The 4th’s came back to win 10-7, so it was a great effort by the whole team.

The final nominations and results were:

  1. Noah (5 votes)
  2. Gary Mills, for not giving up an earned run while in relief in the 1’s (2 votes)

The vote was taken on the Facebook group, so if you are interested in being involved, contact James Dann, Sid Paleri or Alan Yang so you can be added to the group.

Play of the Week – Round 5

This weeks winning Play of the Week was by Rory, who won lollies by betting on Zach to get a hit.

So congratulations to Rory, and I hope he cut Zach into his winnings! Seeing as Zach is batting 7 from 12 (at least by his own counting), it was a pretty safe bet.

The final nominations and results, were:

  • Rory’s Bet (5 votes)
  • 2’s – Millsy fielding a slug-bunt at short range and turning a double (2 votes)
  • Women’s – Vibs making a diving catch and finishing with a commando roll (2 votes)
  • 4’s – Picking a guy off at 1 after he only just made it there on his hit (1 vote)
  • 3’s – Phillipe taking a catch in CF and then throwing to Tom at 3B to make a double play (0 votes)
Submissions and the vote were taken on the Facebook group, so if you are interested in being involved, contact James Dann, Sid Paleri or Alan Yang so you can be added to the group.

*PLEASE GAMBLE RESPONSIBLY*

Play of the Week – Round 4

This week marks the first round of the Play of the Week award. This award is for an individual or group (or even the whole team) for making a particularly good play while fielding, or doing something extraordinary while batting. It can be a great catch to some lucky baserunning that forced some errors. It can also be a tragic play, such as Zach’s ‘almost’ home run last week where he fell over between the bases! Anything that changed the pace of the game, or morale, even momentarily.

This week, the nominations were:

  1. Vibeke Pederson for her Grand Slam in the Womens (6 votes)
  2. Karl Whatham for his instinctive “hold the runner” play in the 3’s (1 vote)
  3. The whole Womens team for winning by Mercy Rule (1 vote)
  4. The 4’s for making a double play (0 votes)

So the winner is Vibs for her Grand Slam! Congratulations on winning the first Play of the Week.

Submissions and the vote were taken on the Facebook group, so if you are interested in being involved, contact James Dann, Sid Paleri or Alan Yang so you can be added to the group.

Player of the Week – Round 4

This rounds Player of the Week goes to Vibeke Pederson for her Grand Slam in the Womens game!

Congratulations to Vibs for this achievement, and doubled with it being on her first Mothers Day, it must have made for a special day for her!

The results of the vote were as follows:

  1. Vibs (10 votes)
  2. Ryan Sauer for his pitching performance in the 1’s (0 votes)
  3. Tom Andronas – for his batting in the 3’s (0 votes)
  4. Lurch for his return to form with the bat in the 4’s (0 votes)

The vote was taken on the Facebook group, so if you are interested in being involved, contact James Dann, Sid Paleri or Alan Yang so you can be added to the group.

Player of the Week – Round 3

This rounds Player of the Week was Jake Breen, for his outstanding batting performance.

As well as batting 3 from 3, one of these was a 3 run home run!

So congratulations to Jake for winning, and may his performance with the bat continue.

The results were:

  • Jake Breen – for reasons above (10 votes)
  • Deepak Kumar – for pitching a shutout and hitting 2 doubles (7 votes)
  • Zach Breen for his “almost” home run – falling over between 3rd and home (1 vote)
  • Lauren Wong for making some great plays in the womens (0 votes)

The vote was taken on the Facebook group, so if you are interested in being involved, contact James Dann, Sid Paleri or Alan Yang so you can be added to the group.
